Secrets from the cellar of Vuina winery in Kaštel Štafilić: Bottles of Vuina 2010 Plavac Mali Štafileo Barrique at rest, waiting to be sent into the world and into the glasses of happy consumers!
Vuina winery is located about 23 kilometers (14 miles) from downtown Split, Croatia in the coastal Dalmatia region. As you may know, the area is the ancestral homeland of Zinfandel, or Crljanak Kaštelanski, one of the parent grapes of Plavac Mali (Dobričić is the other parent). Neven Vuina’s Plavac Mali grapes grow in his vineyards in Kaštela-Trogir wine growing hills (“vinogorje”). The wine is big and bold and spicy, with gripping tannins and dark notes of dried cherry, tar, smoke and leather, and iodine.
Enjoy this sneak peek at Plavac, and we hope you can enjoy some Vuina Plavac Mali soon!
